THE Altnagelvin Hospital Fundraising Committee has helped the people of Burma through a donation of £500 to the Myanmar (Burma) Cyclone Appeal currently being run by Londonderry branch of the British Red Cross.
The Fundraising Committee donation will help those in Burma devastated by the cyclone and who are trying to rebuild their lives in its aftermath.

Michael Taylor from the local branch of the Red Cross commented: “The British Red Cross has already c
ontributed £30,000 from its Disaster Fund to help those affected.”

He continued: “The contribution made by Western Trust staff to the appeal will make a real difference to those people worst affected by cyclone Nargis by being put towards supplying these sort of items.”"

Paula Cunningham, Head of Service Planning, Western Health and Social Care Trust and Chair of the Fundraising Committee said, "We recognise the current human experience of the people of Burma and want to assist those who have been greatly affected by this natural disaster.

“We hope that this donation assists the aid effort in the provision of food, shelter, clean water and other basic aid. On behalf of the Committee we make our donation through our local branch of British Red Cross."
