ONE of the pop world's most iconic figures has had her new single remixed by a Londonderry based band.
Former Destiny's Child star Beyonce Knowles released her latest single 'If I were a Boy' on Sony Records on Monday.
The record will feature two remixed versions of the track courtesy of The Japanese Popstars, a Londonderry based trio of DJs, whose f
resh approach to the electro music scene has seen their stock rise meteorically since they formed in 2006.
Earlier this year the trio - comprised of local lads Declan McLaughlin and Gary Curran and Gareth Donoghue from Dungannon - remixed a track for chartoppers The Ting Tings after meeting the band on the summer festival circuit that saw them play at Oxegyn, Electric Picnic and Glastonbury.
Declan said the band were delighted to get involved with remixing Beyonce's latest single.
"We are over the moon to have been asked to remix Beyonce and have even done two different mixes for the release.
"One is the usual Club Anthem and the other is a more Epic Ballad version similar to what Beyonce would release herself. "
The Beyonce remix is the latest feather in the cap of the local band who only two years ago were writing and performing in their bedrooms.
Their album We Just Are, described as "a BIG BIG record! Very strong," by Radio One's Zane Lowe, was released to rave reviews in August, and drew comparisons to electro music giants The Chemical Brothers and Orbital.
They have also toured extensively and have recently been nominated for Best Breakthrough Producers and Best Album in the DJ Mag 2008 Awards.
