THE man charged with the killing of Londonderry mother Jean Quigley has chosen to stand trial in the Republic of Ireland.
Ms Quigley, a mother of four, was murdered in her Cornshell Fields home on July 26.
She was two months pregnant when she died
Stephen Cahoon, 36, from Harvey Street in Derry appeared in court in Castlerea, County Roscommon, on Friday.
The accused's solicitor Peter Nolan said his client opted for trial south of the border . He asked the authorities to proceed with the case as soon as possible as his client was unlikely to be granted bail in the Republic. He also expressed concern over the level of publicity surrounding the case.
Mr Cahoon was remanded in custody and will reappear in court on August 29
