400k flyers can now take heart
TWO life-saving defibrillators presented to City of Derry Airport by the Limavady branch of the British Heart Foundation (BHF) will allow the facility to provide the best possible care to the 400k passengers who use it annually.
Mr Damien Tierney, Managing Director of City of Derry Airport said: “We are delighted to be able to make these life-saving devices available as a first response aid in and around the City of Derry Airport.
“We would like to say a very special thanks to the BHF Northern Ireland and the Limavady Branch for helping to make this possible.”
Stephanie Leckey, BHF Northern Ireland Area Development Manager added: “Around 1,600 people suffer a cardiac arrest outside ofhospital in the Northern Ireland each year, of which less than 10 per cent will survive to be discharged from hospital.
“Having more people trained in CPR and the use of defibrillators is crucial to saving more lives. I’m thrilled that the City of Derry Airport has taken this step to help save local lives.”
