The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Alderman Hilary McClintock, will join older people from throughout the City and District at a special event at the Foyle Arena on Wednesday March 15.
The Mayor’s St Patrick’s Day Tea Dance will mark the start of Council’s packed programme of events for the Spring Carnival celebrations and will see community groups and members of the public from across Londonderry come together to enjoy music and refreshments in the company of the City and District’s First Citizen.
Donations will go to the Mayor’s charities of Tearfund and Action Cancer Alderman McClintock said: “During my Mayorality I have really enjoyed my tea dances because they are a great way for me to meet up and chat with older people.
“It is often a unique opportunity for people from different communities to congregate together and enjoy some tea and music and, if they want, a dance.”
Refreshments will be provided for the event which will run from 2pm and 4pm with music on the day provided by Midnight Sun. Tickets available from the Council offices.
