SF wants to paint Stormont green for St Patrick’s day

A SINN Féin MLA wants to paint Stormont green for St Patrick’s Day next year.

Fermanagh South Tyrone MLA Phil Flanagan asked the Assembly Commission what plans it has to turn the Parliament Buildings emerald.

DUP MLA Peter Weir confirmed on behalf of the Assembly Commission that it has no colourful plans in train.

“Coloured lighting has been used to demonstrate support for approved charitable organisations including the British Heart Foundation and Action Mental Health,” he stated.

The Sentinel recently revealed the Union Flag was not flown at Stormont on the centenary of the signing of the Ulster Covenant because it would have breached the small print of a series of flag regulations introduced twelve years ago.

The date of the centenary was not included in a Flags Regulations (NI) Order 2000, according to SDLP MLA Pat Ramsey.

Earlier this year the Sentinel revealed the diehard Sinn Féin desire to see the Irish tricolour hoisted at Stormont was to be considered by a the Assembly Commission, which includes Londonderry MLAs William Hay and Pat Ramsey.
