TOP students from the School of Computing and Intelligent Systems were recognised for their outstanding achievement at a prize-giving ceremony on the Magee campus.
Away from the razz-ma-tazz of the formal ceremonies at the Millennium Forum, Paul Mearns from Limavady stepped forward to receive his parchment for winning the Faculty of Computing and Engineering’s McCrea Leebody prize for top student in Year 1 Comp
uter Science for 2006 - 2007. Paul had double cause for celebration as he also won the School of Computing and Intelligent Systems prize for best student. Meanwhile, Magee student Olivia Moran, who is originally from Sligo, won the 8over8 prize for best overall performance on the Masters course in 2006 - 2007, while Magrr graduate Eva Hanser, who originally from Germany, won the 8over8 prize for best overall performance on the Masters course in 2005 - 2006.

Professor Liam Maguire, Head of the School of Computing and Intelligent Systems at Magee, said: “These prizes not only recognise the academic achievement of these students but they also emphasise the willingness of local companies to promote excellence in computer science.  We are witnessing a high demand for our computer science graduates with rewarding job opportunities available both locally and nationally. I wish these students well in their future careers.”
