THE YouDo 'Theatre Moves' Summer School at Ulster's Magee campus came to a close last week with a showcase of original dance and drama pieces performed by the participants.
Over 30 young people from the north west signed took part in the free nine-day creative programme at the School of Creative Arts, receiving expert tuition from dancer Urusula Laeubli and actor Rachael Devir.

Under the guidance of the tutors participants worked towards the creation of devised performances using physical theatre techniques.

Niamh Pearce, cultural development officer, said:  “The young people taking part really rose to the challenge and it was fascinating to see their development over the nine days.  For many it was their first time on a university campus so it was a great opportunity for them to familiarise themselves and get a taste for university life.”

The summer school was part of the ongoing YouDo - Arts in Action initiative, a programme of creative events and opportunities or young people presented by the University of Ulster and Bank of Ireland.

For further information on the YouDo - Arts in Action initiative contact the cultural development office on 028 7137 5658.
