THE Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, Rt Rev Ken Good, officially opened the Festival of Flowers at the parish Church of St John in Dunnalong, Bready, on Friday.
Titled ‘God’s Creation’ the Opening Service included a mixture of hymns, prayers and blessings.The quaint setting enhanced the service. Dunnalong church dates back to 1860 and currently has 157 families some of whom are second and third generation, while others are new to the church, having moved into the Dunnalong area.

In the first window the inspiration for the arrangement came from the Scripture in Genesis ‘Let there be light...’ and the division of light and darkness; the second window focused on the second day of creation with ‘Let there be sky...’

The third arrangement was staged at the font, and focused on baptism and the visible sign of God’s Love, under the title ‘The Water of life’.

Arrangement four (in window three), took for its inspiration ‘Let the Earth produce all kinds of plants...’ taking the explanation of the third day of creation as it’s central theme.
