Strabane High win Ulster Bank Cup

STRABANE High School under 15 cricket team defeated Sullivan Upper School on Friday to win the Northern Ireland Ulster Bank Cup at Shaws Bridge.
On winning the toss Strabane elected to bat and got of to a solid start with openers D Barr and K Dougherty, with the score on 30 Barr was bowled by Irish under 15 international M Adair for 10.

Young Gary McClintock came to the wicket and anchored the innings scoring a very good 35 not out. He was well supported by all batsmen who tried to keep the score moving Clarke contributed a very good 20 before being bowled.

After the twenty four overs Strabane finished on 110 for 7.

In reply Sullivan got of to a good start keeping up with the required scoring rate before D Barr removed Matthews for 8 and soon after K Gibson removed danger man Adair for 15.

Sullivan continued to put up a stout resistance, before Strabane brought on change bowler K Dougherty who bowled a very accurate spell picking up five wickets for only nine runs.

The Sullivan innings closed on 63 all out giving the High School victory by forty seven runs. The Shirlow Ulster Bank Cup was presented to the Strabane team by NCU chairman W McKinty.
