Open events at schools

The Western Education and Library Board (WELB) would like to inform parents and guardians that post-primary school Open Days and Evenings will take place across the WELB area, from now until early February 2013.

P7 pupils and their parents/guardians will have an opportunity to visit post primary schools for guided tours and view facilities and various departments.

Principals will be available at the Open Days/Evenings to answer any questions you and your child may have. The visits will also assist pupils in considering post primary education for September 2013.

All parents/guardians of P7 pupils should receive the following documents to assist them in deciding on their child’s future secondary level education: A schedule of Post-Primary School Open Days/Evenings; Department of Education (DE) Leaflet - Advice for Parents; WELB Booklet - A Guide for Parents/Guardians – Admission to Post-Primary School, and a Transfer Form and Guidance Notes.

Documents can be viewed and downloaded from the Board’s website, www.welbni.org. Alternatively, copies can be obtained on request from the WELB or your local library.

If you wish to obtain a booklet or an Open Days/Evenings schedule for a school in another Board area or if any additional information is required please contact the primary school principal or the Board’s Transfer and Open Enrolment Section at WELB Headquarters, telephone (028) 8241 1411.
