Cross Border safety event

FOYLE and District Road Safety Committee, in association with the Road Safety Council of Northern Ireland and Donegal County Councilwill stage a Cross Border Road Safety Event for Young People at Bready Cricket Club, today, Wednesday, May 2.

The organisations are joining forces to bring 100 young people aged 17 to 20, from various colleges throughout Counties Donegal and Londonderry to take part in this Safe Driving Event with the aim of encouraging safer driving standards. Accidents, injuries and death among young drivers, especially young men, are a big contribution to the overall accident rate.

Young people own seven per cent of all cars yet cause 29 per cent of all road deaths and 56 per cent of accidents, and speed is the major cause.

The PSNI and GARDA will make Presentations to the students.
