INSTITUTE Flame continued their recent good form when they secured the prestigious Shrewsbury International tournament earlier this month.
The Drumahoe girls played both Shrewsbury Town's A and B side and recorded comfortable 1-0 success, to secure their place in the final against Mandley Town.
After falling a goal behind early on the Flame levelled things thanks to a great solo effort
from Natasha Milligan, they then took the lead in the 25th minute following a tremendous counter-attack.
Natasha Deane broke clear before playing an inch perfect cross field pass to Kate Edwards who calmly blasted home from long range, past a flat-footed Mandley keeper.
From then on it was only one side that was going to win and they added a third goal in the second half when Lowry Edwards fired home from fully 35 yards to score the goal of the tournament.
Then against the run of play Mandley somehow seemed to score but the Flames restored the two goal margin when Edwards' supplied a ball that cut the opposition defence open to find Stevena Brown who showed some super composure to pass to Kate Edwards and she calmly slotted the ball home from close range.
Institute Flame's captain Kathy Kelly picked the ball up inside her own half before playing an astute pass to Kate Edwards and she coolly made no mistake to complete her hat-trick. Credit to the home side they never gave up and pulled another goal back in the closing stages, however it was too little too late and the Flame ran out comfortable winners.
