AFTER a two year absence Institute Flame is back up and running and manager Terry Cassidy is aiming for more success with the Drumahoe club.
Cassidy, who is currently boss of the 'Stute Reserve side, is calling on teenagers and parents of primary school girls to get involved with the club this season.
"As we are only back we are currently trying to get our numbers up, at the minute we ha
ve over 20 girls at various ages training with us, but we want more," said Cassidy.
"We have training sessions every Wednesday and Thursday nights, at Gransha from 6.30pm, while there will be a training session for Primary School children at our Grassroots Football Scheme for 5-11 year olds, which takes place every Friday night, at Drumahoe, from 6.30pm until 8pm."
Over the years the Flame have secured various honours and Cassidy feels that can happen again.
"We have a good squad and training is going well, but we are planning for the future and I'm looking to ensure Institute Ladies are in place for a number of years.
"We have started going to Lisneal and Newbuildings Primary Schools, while we also do training sessions at St Cecilia's and Claudy Secondary Schools, so that can only help the club in the long term.
"Our plan is to bring players through from underage level right through to our Ladies first team. Unlike men's football, girls as young as 14 can play in our senior team, so this season I'll be looking for teenagers not just to play in our Under 13 and 15, but also in both our Reserve and first team.
"Nevertheless we are only taking baby steps at the minute and as I have already said we are planning for the future."
